ESLF FOUNDER VOWS TO SUSTAIN FIGHT AGAINST SGBV AT REVIEW MEETING OF BENUE STATE SGBV Policy and Advocacy Implementation Team
The Founder, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, today re-stated her resolve to keep fighting Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the State until victory over the scourge is achieved. Dr. Ortom disclosed this at the review meeting of the Benue State Sexual and Gender Based Violence Policy and Advocacy Implementation Team which held today in Makurdi.
While appreciating the selfless sacrifice of team members in executing their mandate, she urged them to x-ray the successes the team has accomplished, compare the milestones recorded with set target with a view to finding the way forward.
Earlier presenting an overview of the team’s work since being inaugurated in October last year, its Chairperson, Prof. Magdalyn Dura said the team has recorded a measure of success in line with its activity plan which clearly indicates persons responsible, verifiable indicators and expected output.
Making a joint review of the 16 Days of Activism 2020 organised by the SGBV team, Programme Manager of ESLF, Tine Agernor, Professors Charity Angya and Regina Samba, as well as Dr. Maryam Yakubu, outlined series of advocacies to traditional rulers, their wives, as well as to various Local Government Area Councils.
In their separate submissions, members of the team commended the First Lady of Benue State for setting up the anti SGBV team and underscored how it greatly spurred them to fight and rid the State of the various forms of SGBV.
