DR. ORTOM PREACHES LOVE AT ESLF, BEWIP/BEYIP COMBINED CHRISTMAS CAROL.

As the Yuletide season peaks across the globe, the Founder, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) and immediate past First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom has called on people to spread love by sharing with others which is the reason for the season.

Dr. Ortom who gave this charge on Friday at the combined Christmas carol by Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) in conjunction with Benue Women in Prayer (BEWIP) and Benue Youth in Prayer (BEYIP) in Makurdi, Benue State, noted that Christmas represents the abundant love of God toward humankind and urged people to extend that love towards one another.

The Convener of BEWIP and BEYIP stressed the need for people to be committed to continuous prayers and intercession for the land, stand in the gap for others and let kingdom matters reflect in all they do.

Taking the second Scriptural Reading from the Book of Luke Chapter 4:16-19, Dr. Ortom called on all to be mindful of the divine mandate to proclaim the Good News that would liberate the oppressed. The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom who took the First Scriptural Reading from Isaiah 61:1-4 urged the youth to shun vices and stay focused on the message of Christmas.

Represented by the former Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Emmanuel Shior, he described the Christmas season as all-important in the lives of individuals and groups and urged all to make the best of the season.

Delivering the Christmas Message, Rev. Fr. Phillip Apuu of St. Dominic Secondary School, Makurdi who affirmed that Christmas brings messages of hope, comfort and happiness, admonished all to imbibe Christ-like virtues of humility, simplicity and willingness to identify with the vulnerable and marginalized.

Rev. Fr. Apuu pointed out that the occasion presents an opportunity for people to emancipated themselves from mental slavery and other bondages including the unbridled quest for materialism, backbiting, porn and their debilitating effect on the human psyche and charged the youth to channel their energy towards productive ventures.

Highlights of the carol included special ministrations by the Children Choir, BEYIP and BEWIP Choral groups, Boys Brigade Trumpeters, an individual performance by Israel Sax, intercessory prayers and traditional congregational hymns like “Silent Night” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” as well as presentation of Christmas trees by different groups.

Participants at the carol who expressed joy for the privilege of life, the gift of good health and the opportunity to be at the carol, thanked Dr. Eunice Ortom for her gifts to them which they testified is a reflection of her kind disposition towards people especially the vulnerable. The theme for the ESLF, BEWIP/BEYIP Combined Christmas Carol 2024 is, “Liberty to the Captives”.
