ESLF SENSITIZES BOYS’ BRIGADE DURING 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM
As part of programmes to commemorate the ongoing global 16-Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence on women and girls, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) has sensitised members of Boys’ Brigade (BB), an international and inter-denominational Christian youth organisation about the dangers of Sexual and Gender Based Violence against women and girls.
ESLF carried out this sensitisation at the brigade’s parade ground following the enrolment service of new members at the N.K.S.T. Church High Level, Makurdi, Benue State.
The group was sensitised on the various actions which constitute SGBV including rape, physical, emotional and psychological violence as well as cyber violence/cyber stalking among other forms of violence.
In view of the strategic need to co-opt He-for-She champions, that is men and boys who champion the fight against GBV especially against women and girls, the choice of the target audience for this sensitisation is apt and would go a long way to help beneficiaries imbibe the character, disposition and general awareness about the dangers of GBV and corrective steps that could be taken to curb the menace.
The Boys’ Brigade (BB), an organisation established 141 years ago by the Scottish businessman, Sir William Alexander Smith in Glasgow, Scotland on 4th October, 1883, came into Nigeria 116 years ago through Dr. Mac William in 1908.
