EX-INT’L TIJANI BABANGIDA, EMMANUEL BABAYARO SAY FORTHCOMING ESLF FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT COULD HELP DISCOVER FUTURE SOCCER STARS.

Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) Founder and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom has appreciated the involvement and contributions of two Nigerian ex-international and former Super Eagles stars, Tijani Babangida and Emmanuel Babayaro in the forthcoming ESLF Football Tournament organised to mark the 6th anniversary of the Foundation.

Dr. Ortom commended the duo at a meeting with members of the Local Organising Committee (L.O.C.) of the tournament which is slated to hold across all 23 local government areas of the State.

She noted that their personal support for ESLF and the strategic partnership they facilitated as ESLF Ambassadors had helped the Foundation achieve some of objectives and expressed hope that the relationship would continue as well for the good of humanity.

The Founder expressed faith in their wealth of experience and professionalism to give the tournament the needed touch to bring it up to its best possible standard.

Speaking, Mr. Emmanuel Babayaro who is also an ESLF Ambassador commended the Foundation for ensuring inclusion of both male and female teams in the coming competition involving all local government areas in the State.

Babayaro who pointed out that “some of the best footballers in the world came from refugee camps in Europe,” observed that the inclusion of Internally Displaced Persons in the tournament could also lead to the discovery of great soccer talents from their camps.

He stressed the need to infuse mentorship of participants into the tournament where successful footballers and ex-footballers would interact with them, to which end the committee nominated Tijani Babangida, Emmanuel Babayaro, Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Odega, Moses Kpakor and Mike Potempa as possible mentors during the tournament.

Chairman of the L.O.C., Mr. Emmanuel Tama Aondofa, said the tournament would give youths the opportunity to showcase their talent and outstanding ones would be awarded scholarship to study in tertiary institutions.

The age range for all participants is between 14 and 18 years and registration is expected to commence today Friday 8th April, 2022 at the SPORTS DEPARTMENT OF ALL LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS.
