ESLF EMPOWERS QRSS STUDENTS WITH ICT SKILLS TO MARK INT’L DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2021
As part of activities to mark International Day of the Girl Child 2021, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) has organised a workshop on “Internet Usage and Career Opportunities in Information Communication Technology (ICT)” for students of Queen of the Rosary Secondary School (QRSS), Gboko.
The workshop which was aimed at imparting basic knowledge of ICT to participants and unravel the many career opportunities that abound in the world of ICT to them, ignited their interest as observed from their keen attention and incisive follow-up questions during the workshop.
Addressing participants, ICT Data Analyst, Digital Marketer and Chief Executive Officer of Revayah International Nigeria, Ms Lucy Jiki explained simple steps on how to acquire free digital skills through YouTube or other digital channels and the financial benefits that come with gaining such knowledge.
Beneficiaries of the workshop including Jessica Atagwa, Eucharia Aondokura, Mercy Akpenpo and Joji Joana all expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained from the workshop and promised to follow up on it.
Nyuylem who was represented by the Vice Principal Administration, Mrs. Hembadoon Mzaga, said the ICT workshop by the First Lady perfectly complements her donation of 275 desktop computers to equip the school’s computer laboratory.
Delivering his keynote address, Programme Manager of ESLF, Mr. Tine Agernor, charged the students to aspire to whatever position they set their hearts on by working hard to acquire the right skills set to fit in and function effectively in such a dream position.
Mr. Agernor, encouraged the students to build the resilience, tenacity, discipline and drive to achieve various feats just like the First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, who he noted was prepared by QRSS, Gboko to succeed in the motherly role she was playing today as First Lady of the State.
The theme of this year’s commemoration of International Day of the Girl Child is, “Digital Generation, Our Generation”.
