EX-NAFDAC BOSS, DR. ORHII HEADS NEW ESLF HOSPITAL BOARD… VOWS WITH OTHERS TO UPHOLD STANDARD MEDICAL PRACTICE.

Former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii has vowed to work with others to ensure that the new Eunice Spring of Life Foundation Hospital (ESLF-Hospital) would offer quality medical services including Maternal and Child Health Care Services, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (particularly drug and substance abuse reformation), counselling and General Medical Services in line with global best practice.

Dr. Orhii newly named Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the new ESLF Hospital disclosed this while giving his acceptance speech to serve with 7 other appointees as members of the BOT of the Hospital.

Orhii who hailed ESLF for “giving birth” to the ESLF Hospital, confirmed that the Foundation’s vision of “a society without barriers to decent living” tallies with his personal conviction to serve humanity and commended ESLF’s many interventions and free medical outreaches that have touched the lives of nearly 100,000 persons within the Benue borders and beyond.

Giving their separate remarks, eminent personalities including Vice Chancellor of the University of Mkar, Prof. Zacharys Gundu, former Deputy Vice Chancellor, Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, Prof. Oga Ajene, Minority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Williams Ortyom and former Member, House of Representative, Mrs. Rebecca Apedzan hailed the composition of the BOT and praised the resilience of the Founder of ESLF and ESLF Hospital, Dr. Eunice Ortom for such strong show of commitment to keep serving humanity beyond her time in office as First Lady of Benue State.

Delivering a keynote address, Dr. Eunice Ortom expressed profound gratitude to members of the ESLF Hospital Board of Trustees for accepting to serve and charged them to bring their “professional expertise, wealth of experience and extensive network” to bear to bring the vision to fruition.

Dr. Ortom pointed out that “ESLF Hospital is not merely a medical service provider” but “a beacon of hope offering maternal and child health services, general medical services, mental and psycho-socio support services such as drug and substance abuse reformation, treatment, counselling, sensitisation and vocational skills trainings all of which are relevant components contributing to the reformative aspect of our hospital services.”

She was optimistic that ESLF would work with, members of the BOT and partners “to provide exceptional healthcare and make positive impact in the State and beyond”…“ensuring that our hospital becomes a beacon of health, compassion and innovation”.

Dr. Ortom noted that ESLF hospital took off on a sound note by giving structured training to its staff and a free medical outreach primarily for the host community as well as neighbouring communities to mark commencement of full operations at the hospital.

Other members of the ESLF Hospital Board of Trustees include the Chief Medical Director, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Sokoto, Prof. Shehu Saleh, Dr. Michael Amedu, Dr. Kusu Simon Orkar, Dr. Catherine Sarwuan, Dr. Jennifer Aaka-Atume, Mrs. Saratu Orga and Dr. Comfort Abaa who is Secretary of the Board.

The inaugural meeting of the BOT aligns with the policies and regulations set forth by the Ministry of Health and Primary Health Care Board of Benue State, the governing bodies under which ESLF Hospital is duly registered.
