ESLF BAGS HUMANITARIAN AWARD FROM CLERGYMAN, FR. SOLOMON MFA UKEYIMA.
Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) has been described as one of few Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Benue State that is exceptionally consistent in its humanitarian service to the people especially during crisis.
Renowned clergyman and humanitarian worker, Rev. Fr. Mfa Solomon Ukeyima disclosed this while presenting an award of outstanding humanitarian service to ESLF through its Founder and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom.
According to Fr. Mfa, “I know for a fact that in this State we have close to a hundred NGOs and Civil Society Organisations but there are just few that are always there whenever there was humanitarian crisis. I was able to identify such for award of recognition and to the glory of God, your Foundation falls among those identified to be deserving of this award.”
He said the award was “a pat on the back” for staff of the Foundation thus the Founder’s insistence that the award be presented in the presence of staff who, in his words, “make the Foundation what it is”.
Recalling the support which his organisation (Ungoor Mbadedoo meaning Good Mothers), received from Dr. Ortom in 2013 even before she became First Lady, the priest disclosed that she aided the setting up of businesses that became a steady source of livelihood for aged women in Daudu, a feat which earned her “The Woman of the Year 2013” award.
Receiving the award on behalf of ESLF, the Founder, Dr. Eunice Ortom who described the award as an inspiration for her and the entire staff, added that it would not be taken for granted. She appreciated the discipline, resilience and commitment to duty exhibited by ESLF staff whom she described as wonderful.
Expressing delight about the award, she said, “we appreciate that our little efforts have been recognised indicating that there is a some impact in what we are doing to support less-privileged people in dire need of our support”.
She described Fr. Mfa as a wonderful pillar of support and a bridge for the Foundation stating that, “at various times, you have facilitated our efforts towards achieving our shared goal of making humanity better. You share our vision of ensuring that the world is a better place to live in and we have been truly inspired by many things you do”.
“Truly, you are a bridge that has helped facilitate our support to people out there who, for one reason or the other, may have that challenge to have direct contact with the Foundation or my person…It is my prayer that you continue to be that strong bridge for us to all cross and get to that better side.
Quoting the scripture verse that “the prayer of the righteous availeth much”, Dr. Ortom asked for constant prayers for herself and ESLF for the Foundation to continue to function in line with the purpose for which it was set up and thanked Fr. Mfa for presenting some copies of his book, “Hard Facts” to the organisation.
In attendance were ESLF’s Interim Co-ordinator, Mr. Manz Denga, the Programme Manager, Tine Agernor and other members of staff of ESLF.
