DISABILITY RIGHTS ADVOCATE, ANN AMALI, SPEAKS ON #IWD2020.

A capable hand and an eloquent voice for women, girls and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), Ann Amali lends her voice to ESLF’s Media Campaign for women to commemorate THE International Women’s Day #IWD2020:

“In Africa, women suffer from different forms of discrimination on the basis of their gender. They are most times regarded and treated as second class citizens, less than humans and inferior. Women with disability suffer a double measure of these for the fact that they are women living with disability.

“As the world commemorates International Women’s Day this year with the theme “Each for Equal”, I wish to advocate for a level playing ground for all; irrespective of sex or disability. Women should strongly believe in their capacity to perform and succeed regardless of what anyone thinks or says.

They should unite and support one another to fight against all forms of discrimination, stereotype and inequality so as to obtain equality for all girls and women.”

Phrases, statements and derogatory words such as, “an ordinary girl”, “it is a man’s world”, “a woman is to be seen and not heard”, should be completely eroded by words and actions.”
