On the celebration of World Poetry Day today, Founder of the Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, charges women and girls to write and tell their own story as none, other than them, can best tell this story.

Represented by the Programme Manager of ESLF, Mr. Tine Agernor, the Governor’s wife gave this charge at an event to mark the day organised by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Benue State chapter with the support of ESLF.

Outgoing Chairman of ANA Benue, Dr. Charles Iornumbe, commended Dr. Ortom for contributing to the success of the 2020 World Poetry Day celebration in the State.

Highlights of the event included reading of poems by various poets including the poem written by Dr. Eunice Erdoo Ortom, titled, “Master stroke of a Generation”.

The occasion also witnessed the unveiling of the First Edition of the Idris Amali/ANA Benue Poetry Prize won by Gladys Teghtegh, a student of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Makurdi for her poem titled, “COVID 19”.

The event which has the theme, “Female Poetry in the 21st Century”, focused on promoting and projecting female poets and their works thus necessitating the support by ESLF since it was in line with the Foundation’s commitment to literacy and literary works.
