Second Phase of Follow Up Vocational Skills Trainings
ESLF Kick-starts Second Phase of Follow Up Vocational Skills Trainings for over 500 Participants of Her 1st and 2nd Women Economic Summits
Friday, 13th July 2018, ESLF in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Benue commenced the registration, documentation and posting of women who would, for the next 3 months, undergo vocational skills training in various areas of interest.
The trainees are women, selected from each of the 276 council wards of the State who attended the 1st and Second Women Economic Summits, hosted by the Foundation in 2016 and 2017.
The objective is to enhance the capacity of women to be economically self-reliant and contribute to driving economic development. According to ESLF’s Founder, Dr Eunice Ortom, on completion of training, the trainees would, subject to resources available, be supported to start up/grow their businesses. The target is to train and support at least, one participant per council ward, per summit.
Meanwhile, ESLF’s Programme Officer, Economic Empowerment, Mrs. Juliana Apeh has commended the National Directorate Employment (NDE) for their commitment to the partnership. Mrs. Apeh, who stated this while on inspection of the exercise at Tarka LGA commended the State Coordinator, Engr. Cheen Chia and staff of the Agency for their enthusiasm to improve the economic profile of Benue women. As a foremost Agency in Skills and Manpower development, NDE would train the beneficiaries in their chosen fields.
Mrs Apeh also explained that in the current phase, non-participants of both summits who indicated interest in acquiring skills would also be trained
