HUNDREDS GET FREE TREATMENT AS DR. ORTOM AFFIRMS “ESLF HOSPITAL & FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH SHOW COMMITMENT TO GOOD HEALTH”.
Day 2 and last day of the Free Medical Outreach organised by the new ESLF Hospital in partnership with Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF) witnessed hundreds of beneficiaries who thronged to the hospital to access free treatment including the aged, pregnant women, Persons with Disabilities and critically ill patients who were given priority attention and prompt treatment characteristic of ESLF’s disposition as a Foundation that cares for vulnerable persons.
Speaking of the motivation for the Free Medical Outreach at the ESLF Hospital located at Tse-Ade Agile Mbaji community in Ugondo District of Makurdi, Benue State, the Founder of ESLF and ESLF Health and Skills Facility (ESLF-HSF), Dr. Eunice Ortom affirmed that it was in keeping with her Foundation’s tradition and commitment to good health which is in sync with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 to strive to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages” in 2030.
The immediate past First Lady of Benue State who said the free treatment given during the 2-Day Free Medical Outreach aimed to carry everyone along in line with the SDG’s principle to Leave No One Behind (LNOB).Dr. Ortom thanked the doctors, nurses, lab scientists, Community Health Workers (CHEW) and all staff of the ESLF Hospital for their professionalism and show of remarkable commitment to serve humanity.
Some beneficiaries gave glowing testimonies of the pleasant health services they received, the caring nature of the workers and quality drugs they got free of charge during the medical outreach.Some of the beneficiaries including the families of Mr. Igbaakula Victor Terkula and his wife Celestina, Mrs. Cynthia Terkimbi and her children and a nursing mother, Mrs. Erdoo Terzungwe all expressed gratitude to the hospital and to ESLF for making it possible for them to get such free treatment at a time of general economic hardship in country adding that it has gone a long way to ameliorate their plight.
Unhindered by their speech impairment, two Persons with Disabilities, Mrs. Elizabeth Upurugh and Zahemen Richard Ityo-Uba, who also benefited, expressed gratitude to ESLF Hospital and the Foundtion using fluent sign language.Other highpoints of the Free Medical Outreach included sensitisation and awareness talks on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM), general body hygiene as well as Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) by various professionals.
The new ESLF HOSPITAL which became operational on Wednesday is now set to serve various categories of patients and offer quality Maternal and Child Health Services, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (drug and substance abuse reformation), counselling, General Medical Services and Vocational Skills Training (as a component of drug and substance abuse reformation).
