ESLF’S FOUNDER BAGS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE AT 2022 AFRICAN WOMEN SUMMIT IN KIGALI, RWANDA.

The modest but concerted contributions of the Founder of ESLF and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom in the service of humanity have received due recognition in faraway Rwanda, East Africa.

Coming on the heels of ESLF’s 6th anniversary, the African Women Leadership Excellence Award was bestowed on Dr. Ortom by the Coalition of Women in Africa for Peace and Development (COWAP) on Friday, 13th May 2022 at the 3rd Edition of its African Women Summit in recognition of her Foundation’s interventions in Health, Education, Agriculture, Empowerment, the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Drug Abuse.

Presenting the award to Dr. Ortom in Kigali on behalf of COWAP, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Her Excellency Aishatu Musa noted that it was a well-deserved pat on the back for the ESLF Founder for serving as a shoulder of support for the vulnerable.

Responding, Dr. Ortom thanked the organisers for recognizing her modest efforts and said it was a call to greater service and a spur on her intent to remain unflinching in advancing the cause of humanitarian service.

In ESLF’s 6 years of serving humanity, it has seen to it that over 500 women and youth have been empowered with trainings and financial grants, over 80,000 beneficiaries in 100 council wards across the state and IDP camps benefitted from ESLF’s free medical outreaches.

It has offered direct sponsorship/scholarship and paid examination fees for indigent students, organised and sponsored sporting events, mentorship programs for women and youth, provided agricultural trainings and aids as well as the led advocacy for the involvement and inclusion of women and youth in politics and administration.
