BENGONET RECOGNISES ESLF FOUNDER & BENUE’S FIRST LADY FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HUMANITY

ESLF Founder and First Lady of Benue State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, has received an award of recognition for humanitarian service at the Awards and Dinner Night organised by Benue Non-Governmental Organisation Network (BENGONET) as part of its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Presenting the award, Vice Chairman of BENGONET Board of Trustees and Executive Director, Jojo Shaahu Foundation, Mrs. Gladys Shaahu, said: “It is my honour and privilege to be the one to make this presentation. As the initiator of Eunice Spring of Life Foundation, she has given life and succour to many in Benue and beyond. She has touched lives in education, in health and economic empowerment. She continues to support women in any way she can which she started long she became First Lady…She has supported and partnered with BENGONET as an individual and through her organisation. Permit me to make this presentation to you, congratulate you and tell you well done that BENGONET and, indeed, the Benue people appreciate the good work you are doing. May God continue to bless you, give you long life and good health so that you can do more. So on behalf of BENGONET, I present this award to you.”

In her goodwill message after receiving the award of “Outstanding Supporter and Pillar of BENGONET”, the ESLF Founder, described the award as a greater call to continue to serve humanity.Dr. Ortom, who was represented by ESLF’s Programme Manager, Mr. Tine Agernor, called on BENGONET to work hard to sustain the unity that exists in its fold and shun any act that would threaten to pull members apart.

In her remarks, BENGONET Chairman, Mrs. Rachel Ityonzughul, described Dr. Ortom as a woman with passion for the vulnerable who recognises inclusion and is gifted with a good listening ear.Other awardees at the event were the Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Benue State, Dr. Magdalyn Dura, the General Manager, Benue State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (BERWASSA), Mrs. Torkwase Ikyator and the President, Lawyers Alert Nigeria, Barr. Rommy Mom.The theme of the event is, “Civil Society Organisations and Development Imperatives”.
